Save on your bills with EON cavity wall insulation funding
If you’re with EON, free cavity wall insulation can help you reduce your energy bills. An uninsulated house loses about one-third of its heat through its walls.
Properly insulated cavity walls can reduce your home heat loss.
In this article, we will explain how EON customers can receive free cavity wall insulation grant as part of the government initiated ECO4 Scheme and the Great British Insulation Scheme.
Do I Qualify for free EON cavity wall insulation?

- You Are a Homeowner or a Private Tenant

Why EON Cavity Wall Insulation?
Alongside other UK energy suppliers, EON is required to fulfil the government’s Energy Company Obligation (or ECO) to make homes across the country energy efficient to lower heating bills and to put a price cap on cost.

What is Cavity wall?
Did you know that almost a third of heat lost in a home without insulation is through the outer wall?
A way to stop this from happening is to fill your cavity walls with insulation, which will retain heat for longer and lower your energy bills.
For houses built before 1990 and after 1920, you are likely to have unfilled cavity walls; filling them with insulation will keep the cold from coming into your house via the external walls.
Cavity wall insulation is typically made up of mineral wool which will be inserted into your internal walls using drill holes.
It is a easy to do and relatively mess-free insulation installation process and should take no more than a few hours!

Is cavity wall insulation right for your home?
To know whether cavity wall insulation is right for your home, you need to think about:
- When your house was built and if it meets building regulations for the installation requirements.
- If your home experiences a lot of wind driven rain on the external wall, it may not be possible to install cavity wall and loft insulation.
- If you already have free loft insulation installed, you will most likely qualify for EON cavity wall insulation installation as well. Make sure to get a second opinion through UKES.
- If your house is commonly exposed to flooding, cavity wall insulation may not be suitable.
- Most suppliers will be experts and can inform you of your own risk when considering cavity wall insulation for your property.
- If you qualify for the ECO scheme and if not, what other schemes are on offer to fund cavity wall, roof and loft insulation installation in your household.
